VISITOR GUIDE : TOUR : IN THE INTERIOR

On our way to Panormitis we meet Agia Aikaterini, Panagia of Stylos, Agios Konstantinos and among the cypress wood we will see Panagia Strateri, Agios Ioannis, Agios Dimitris, Agia Marina of Nera and the monastery of Megalos Sotiris. The internal walls of the katholikon of Megalos Sotiris all are covered with paintings. In the apse of the sanctuary there is a date for the narrative : “1727 June the 18th”. The artist who created this narrative is the same one who narrates the little monastery of Michael of Kourkouniotis, close to Megalos Sotiris on the way to Panormitis.

The stone built Byzantine wine press (10th-17th century).

The monastery of Michael of Roukouniotis with the wall paintings of the 15th century in the old lower church, provokes the interest of the visitors.
